FC Shakhtar Academy should be regarded from the point of view of football education. Football Academy must develop players through well-organised training sessions. Work must be organised in such a way that would allow a number of coaches to work with one group.

Consequently, one player/a group of players will have a chance to develop better because during every training he will have more time practicing technical and tactical skills.

It is important that coaches were able to create an atmosphere at training sessions which would easily translate into real match situations. All physical exercises must resemble real-match situations to have the best possible effect on the players development.

Formation

All Academy teams play the 1-4-3-3 formation.
Basic principles of this formation are explained to the players in their first matches played in the Academy.

Training schedule

Training schedules are designed to allow players to train twice a day. Academy training schedule is composed of team training sessions and specific sessions. Youth Academy players train once every day but no less than 5 times a week. Coaches evaluate young players development both during training sessions and matches.

Training in gruops

Group training is a training in which the whole team is taking part. In such trainings it is important to improve technical, tactical, physical and psychological abilities of players. In such trainings everything what is linked to positioning, tasks and roles of players within the plays system.

Special training

Special training is a training in which little number of players take part. Such trainings are aimed at practicing technical and tactical elements of the game based on positioning, tasks and roles of players within a particular system.

The Youth Academy matches (age groups U-8 and U-13) are played on the artificial turf pitches next to the Shakhtyor Central Stadium

Matches of the Professional Academy teams (U14, U17) are played at the Kirsha training ground.

Shakhtar-3 matches are played at the Avangard stadium in Makeyevka.

Reserve team play at the CS Shakhtyor.
